This week Dr. Delirious stalks his prey in the night and pounces on an overlooked gem in the discard pile: “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor from 1982. Commissioned by Sylvester Stallone himself to contribute to the Rocky III soundtrack, Survivor was a little known group of Chicago-based musicians making a go at rock n roll in-between commercial jingle writing gigs. Little did they know, the song they would write for the movie would become one of the biggest hits of the 1980s. What band passed up the opportunity to provide the theme to Rocky III?
